Water Resources

Access to clean and safe water is essential for human health and development. Armenia has a water supply of more than 3,000 cubic meters per capita per year. Although Armenia is relatively rich in water resources the water is unevenly distributed throughout the country. According to government reports, there are water shortages in certain areas throughout Armenia (about 5%). Melting snow, rainfall, and groundwater seasonally replenish Armenia’s surface water resources.
